CMI get stuck in to help the Wildlife Park.

by isleofman.com 8th December 2006
A team of hardy colleagues from Clerical Medical International braved the weather on one of the stormiest days of the year on another volunteer project at the Curraghs Wildlife Park in Ballaugh.

Clerical Medical have been keen supporters of various projects at the park in recent years and have provided teams of colleagues to take on schemes including the construction of a bat enclosure, new pathways and the provision and maintenance of wooden benches.

The latest job took place when 70 mph gales were blasting through the Ballaugh Curraghs. But the team completed the tricky job of erecting covered benches in a garden setting close to the bat enclosure, followed by some landscaping of the area with the planting of trees and shrubs. The work will continue over the winter months.

Former Clerical Medical staff member Penny Gilman, who died in 2003, was closely involved with the Isle of Man Bat Society and served in many roles. Following her death colleagues worked together to raise over ?600 towards the construction of a memorial garden alongside the bat enclosure, which when completed will be known as 'Penny’s Garden'.
