Ramsey keep foot on the gas

by isleofman.com 9th December 2006
Unbeaten league leaders Ramsey maintained their two-point lead at the top of the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield table with a 39-0 win over bottom side Vagabonds C.

First half tries from Danny Turner (two) and Will Keenan, plus a penalty and two conversions from Sean Whylie, gave the northerners a 22-0 half time lead.

In the second half, further scores from Craig Long, Lee Camilleri and skipper Matt Livesey put the game beyond doubt.

At QEII School Peel, Southern Nomads kept up their challenge with a 38-0 win over Western Vikings.

Tries from Cam Sayle and Andy Lean, plus two Dave Edge conversions, kept Nomads in front 14-0 at the break.

In the second half, Nomads had the wind and dominated the game.

Flanker Rob Keelan picked up a hat trick of tries and Ian Hargreaves rounded the day off for the Nomads back row with a try of his own.

Vagabonds B also kept the pressure on at the top of the table as they outclassed the beleaguered Northern Spaniards 92-0.

Douglas B regained some of their earlier form with a 37-3 win over Castletown.

Phil Garrett, Ted Games, Luke Faragher, Chris Newberry, John Ledwidge, Dan Creer and Mark McGee all crossed for Douglas, with Town’s only points coming from the boot of Dave Hodgson.
