Holders Laxey booked their place in Boxing Day’s Parkinson Railway Cup Final after an exciting semi-final victory over St George’s on Saturday.
The Miners emerged 3-2 winners over their arch rivals at Glen Road in a repeat of last year’s showpiece.
All the goals came in the first half with John Callow giving Laxey the lead before Michael McHale equalised for the Geordies with a coolly taken penalty.
Within a minute, Laxey regained the lead with a spot-kick of their own – converted by Rob Sorby, the match-winner in last year’s final.
James McStay levelled again for St George’s with an excellent effort but it was Carl Barks who had the final word to clinch the home side a place in the final at the expense of the Division One leaders.
