Turnstile payments could add to flying costs.

by isleofman.com 14th December 2006

Manx passengers, travelling through Liverpool John Lennon Airport, could be asked to pay at a turnstile for security.

The Merseyside Airport, owned by Manx resident John Whittaker's Peel Group, is discussing charging passengers extra money to cover its increased security costs, estimated at three million pounds.

Its only being considered at the moment but it could mean passengers having to put in ?2 to be let through.

Managers say the extra revenue would help meet the ?3m cost of increased security measures brought in this year.

Passengers are also facing increased air passenger duty from February, a measure brought in by the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer in his
pre-budget statement.
