Castle Mona closes

by isleofman.com 15th December 2006
The Castle Mona Hotel has abruptly announced it closing. Its closed its door and the management are ringing clients, telling them the news. The Castle Mona is one of the most striking buildings on the promenade, its also one of the earliest. It was built in 1801, as the home of the 4th Duke of Athol. It was turned into a hotel in 1835. With 99 bedrooms, the Breeze nightclub, the Office and a bowling alley, it is a popular venue at this time of year. And because of that variety on offer its going to hit many people. For many, this will throw their Christmas arrangement right up into the air and there will be few others places that can accommodate them at this time of year.Looking a few months along the road and the TT and the Island, already struggling for accommodation, can ill afford to loose this prestigious establishment.
