MEA Chairman Teare may stay on

by isleofman.com 16th December 2006
The new Health Minister, Ayre MHK Eddie Teare ( pictured centre) may not be leaving the MEA.
Mr Teare is currently chairman of the Authority.
He was named yesterday as one of four MHKs to take on Ministry portfolios for the first time.

But will he carry on as MEA chairman?
"You shouldn't assume I am leaving the role", he says. "I am involved in major negotiations currently under way and my role may change. I have indicated I would be delighted to carry on."
So its "wait and see".

Along with Mr Teare, Anne Craine, Education ( pictured left) , Martyn Quayle, Home Affairs, and Adrian Earnshaw, Tourism also get their first portfolios.

The two Ministers to stay in place in Tony Browns first administration are Allan Bell in Treasury ( pictured right) and Phil Gawne in Agriculture.

John Shimmin moves from Home Affairs to the Department of Local Government. As advertised, David Cretney quits the Tourism brief for Trade and Industry, and David Anderson leaves Education to take up Transport responsibilities.

The notable name missing from the "all Keys" line up is Phil Braidwood, formerly Transport Minister.
Alex Downie, MLC formerly DTI MInister also looses his portfolio. Its thought that because of Mr Brown's eagerness to have his cabinet made up entirely of Keys members.
