Southern Nomads retain Manx Plate

by isleofman.com 16th December 2006
Southern Nomads retained their Dorchester Maritime Manx Plate title with a tense 15-10 win over Vagabonds B.

Vagas took an early lead through a Danny Williams penalty.

Nomads took it back with a Kev Quantrill try, converted by Dave Edge.

Edge added a penalty early in the second half to extend the Nomads lead and when James Hammal powered over for a try midway through the second half, the game looked safe with Nomads leading 15-3.

Vagas had other ideas though and they were right back in the game when skipper Mark Allix powered over from close range.

Danny Williams’ conversion made it 15-10 but Vagas’ quest for a winning score was beaten by the clock.
