Valkyrs A clinch league and cup double; Tuftex joy for Ramsey Rookies

by isleofman.com 16th December 2006
Valkyrs A confirmed their dominance of mixed hockey by clinching a league and cup double on Saturday.

They captured the Heritage Homes Cup with a 2-1 success against battling Falcons to lift more silverware, thanks to second half goals from Gerry Quinn and - after Kim Carney had levelled for Falcons – the prolific Gareth Morris.

It was also a memorable day for Ramsey Rookies who secured the Tuftex Trophy.

Skipper Katie Taylor was the match-winner as Rookies came from behind to win 3-2 against Valkyrs D, the side which pipped them to the Division Three title.

Matthew McLaughlin gave Valkyrs a second minute lead before two Ewan Heap goals turned the match around for Rookies.

Delta Williams hauled Valkyrs level before captain Taylor sparked northern celebrations.
