Important wins for Ramsey and St John's

by isleofman.com 16th December 2006
Ramsey and St John’s secured potentially crucial victories in their bids to beat the drop on Saturday.

In a fixture programme severely affected by the weather, Ramsey won 1-0 at bottom club Marown, who would have moved out of the drop zone with victory.

Only a point separated the sides at the start of the afternoon but a goal from Chris Robinson made that gap four points and left the Crosby side with an uphill task to survive.

St John’s also put some daylight between themselves and the bottom clubs with a 1-0 victory at Rushen United.

Colby defeated Castletown 3-1 in the southern derby at Glen Road to consolidate fourth spot in CFS Division Two.

Promising youngsters Josh Kelly and Mark Costello joined Steve Kelly on the home scoresheet with regular marksman Greg Hoskisson getting the Town goal as the sides went in level at 1-1 at the break.

Four-goal Steven Oates was the hero as Ramsey Youth Centre won 6-3 at battling basement club Jurby.

Alex Doddrell and Andy Cleator also found the net for the visitors.
