Student challenge

An invitation to Manx "studying marketers" to showcase their talents to a panel of industry experts at The Chartered Institute of Marketing’s annual ‘Pitch’ competition on Tuesday 20th February at Manchester Conference Centre has been extended.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing in the North West Launches Its Annual Student ‘Pitch’ Competition for 2007

Working in a team, entrants must respond to a brief set by Brother UK, this year’s sponsor, with a full marketing strategy. They will also need to demonstrate their ability to handle budgets and showcase their general presentation skills – both key skills in today’s marketing environment. This unique event is a once in a lifetime opportunity for students who are serious about a career in marketing.

The brief, which will be sent to all teams by email 2 weeks before the event, will be based around a real life scenario and will follow the same format as one normally issued to a marketing consultancy or agency. Each will then need to interpret the brief and produce a viable solution as their ‘Pitch’. As in everyday industry, teams will be able to utilise whatever resources they require.

Team applications should be made online at www.cim-nw.org.uk/thepitch/apply.php and further information can be requested by emailing students@cim-nw.org.uk.
