Developer outlines proposals

by isleofman.com 17th January 2007
The man behind the Callow Yard Castletown scheme has been talking in public for the first time about his proposals for redevelopment of the harbour at Castletown. It's clear that consultations have been going on behind the scenes for approaching a year. Both the former Chief Minister, Donald Gelling and the present Chief Minister and MHK for Castletown Tony Brown have been involved in those talks along with the Commissioners and the Harbours Division of Government. The scheme would involve building a seawall and a lock system to provide 24 hour access to the harbour with the combination aimed at alleviating flooding. A 400 metre channel would lead into the bay. There are also plans for a thirty bed hotel. The man behind the scheme, Roy Tilleard, says he feels the approach taken at Callows Yard and the proposals here are the way for ward for the Island:
