Back Strand Street development proposed.

by isleofman.com 17th January 2007
The development opportunities offered by what is the service road for Douglas' main shopping street are to be explored by the Departments of the Environment and Transport.

Market Street is perhaps better known as " back Strand Street" to one and all.
It is currently a one-way street past the wheelie bins, the car parking, the store sheds and all that serves the retail units on Strand Street.

The idea is to develop the road and the properties and the sites alongside to in effect make "Strand Street part two", a thoroughfare but with what is termed
" traffic calming," to help pedestrians, all flanked by, hopefully, shops.

Its been stressed this is all in the very very early stages and no price has been fixed to the proposals.
