Ronaldsway celebrated a memorable victory against Castletown in the southern derby on Saturday, while Corinthians’ bid for the CFS Division Two title was dented.
At Ronaldsway, the in-form Mark Wolfenden was the star of the show with a second half hat-trick for the in-form Rockets to leave the promising Alex Cawley’s goal a mere consolation for Town.
Meanwhile, Onchan produced an impressive showing to hold leaders Corinthians to a 1-1 draw - Dean Gough the Onchan scorer with the prolific Steve Glover on target for Corinthians from the penalty spot.
That result allowed title rivals Old Boys to go top as they defeated strugglers Douglas and District 3-0 – Sean Gavin (two) and Callum Stewart (pen) the scorers - while third placed Michael kept alive their promotion hopes with an 8-0 thrashing of Colby.
Four-goal Michael Shimmin led the rout with Michael Perks, Mike Hammond, Paul Corlett and an own goal, compounding the southerners’ misery.
Fourth placed Pulrose maintained their prolific form with a 9-2 win over Jurby.
And it was one of the division’s most talented players who led the rout.
Goal getter Dave Skillen notched SIX - his double hat-trick, plus goals from Barry English (two) and Richard Sharman, sinking the bottom club.
Jack Charmer hit an amazing FIVE goals as cup minnows Malew overturned a 3-1 half-time deficit to seal a fine 6-3 win at Foxdale.
Adam Drewitt was the other Malew marksman, from the penalty spot, as Foxdale were left stunned.
Sean Sheridan was one of the home side’s scorers.
Elsewhere, Ramsey Youth Centre enjoyed a good win over the inconsistent Police – Alex Yarker netting the only goal of the game.
