Sharon Roberts( pictured centre) has taken over from Jeremy Callin in the Society's top role.
Previously VIce President, she will hold the position for two years.
She says the Society is fiercely proud of the independence of the Manx legal system and protects it staunchly.
"We are the only profession in the Island in that position", she adds, " and Its a marvellous thing".
The Isle of Man Law Society is the oldest Manx professional body, formed by the Law Society Act 1859 passed by Tynwald. In 2005 there were 144 practising Advocates, 22 non-practising Advocates, 5 associate members and 21 student members.
