Jersey to get Heathrow link

by isleofman.com 30th January 2007
We want it, we lust after it but we haven't achieved it.
But Jersey has.

Bmi has announced it is to launch two flights a day between Heathrow
and Jersey. The island has been without direct links to Heathrow since 2001 and bmi says it expects considerable demand for both point-to-point and onward connecting passengers.

Nigel Turner, bmi chief executive officer, said the airline was delighted to be re-establishing direct air links between Heathrow and Jersey.
"We have a long history and association with the island and recognise the importance in it having direct links into the world's busiest international airport."

BMI and BA are the major players at Heathrow and therefore BMI would have slots available.
The Isle of Man has services into Gatwick through the soon to be departed
BA Connect service and London City. We had Stansted for a short time through Manx2.com, the airline which has said it is striving to try and re establish a Heathrow link for the Island. Heathrow links are historically expensive and the only ones practically available are usually either at unsociable hours or dotted around at irregular times.
