Fairbairn fake

by isleofman.com 2nd February 2007
Fairbairn Private Bank has been the latest target of internet conmen who set up a fake website claiming to be the bank’s.

www.fpbgroup.com has now been closed down but the Financial Supervision Commission says it was a fake site.

The website said its Fairbairn was based in 2-3 Athol Street in Douglas – quite an achievement as this address would have involved buildings on opposite sides of the street.

The FSC says people shouldn’t confuse it with the real Fairbairn Private Bank and should avoid dealing with anybody involved with the lookalike.

Anybody who has any concerns can contact the FSC’s Enforcement Division on 689315 or by email to fsc@gov.im
