Andrew Roche was in dominant form to win cycling's first event of the new season, the Fletcher Trophy Time Trail.
In driving rain and gale force winds, Pinarello RT rider Roche stormed around two laps of the 23 mile course in an amazing time of 58 minutes 7 seconds. Another impressive ride came from Manx Viking Wheeler Graeme Hatcher who clocked 1 hour 58 seconds to finish as runner-up. Elliott Baxter was third with a time of 1hour 2 minutes and 21 seconds.
Natalie Arrowsmith (MRC) and Jacqui Fletcher (EV) were the only women competitors to take part in the horrendous conditions, with Natalie coming out on top with a time of 1 hour, 18 minutes and 21 seconds, compared to Jacqui's 1hour and 20 minutes.
There was a small entry in the Youth Time Trial which covered one lap of the senior course. It was a one - two for the Manx Road Club with the ever improving Tim Kennaugh winning in a time of 30 minutes and 56 seconds, with Chris Whorrall second in 32 minutes and 31seconds. Chris Nicholson made it a clean sweep for Olympic Talent riders to take third spot in 33 minutes and 43 seconds.
