Vagabonds win by the width of a post

by isleofman.com 10th March 2007
Vagabonds recorded a rare away win when they beat Aspull 20-18 in EuroManx South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One.

A Hasely Lobb try, plus a penalty and a conversion from Johnny Beckley, set Vagas off to a flying start, but by half-time Aspull had got their noses back into the game and the teams turned around at ten apiece.

A Rob Martin try, converted by Beckley, put Vagas back into the lead in the second half but they trailed 17-18 with three minutes to go.

Beckley nailed a penalty with two minutes remaining to give Vagas a 20-18 lead, but it was almost undone when Aspull’s kicker Liam Reeve shaved the post with a penalty with the last kick of the game.
