Ramsey A cause only surprise in cup

The top sides in men’s hockey showed no mercy to lower league opposition in the first round of the men’s cup on Saturday.

Bacchas A hit 17 past Harlequins without reply – led by four goal Karl Moore and hat-tricks apiece from Jamie Cox and Richard LePage.
Tom Wilson hit seven as Bacchas B defeated their young Colts side 10-0, Valkyrs A were 6-0 winners over Ramsey Roosters, Vikings A put eight past Saracens and Ramsey A defeated a side in their own league, newly promoted Valkyrs B, 3-0.

In the women’s cup, Ramsey A gained the result of the day, defeating Valkyrs A 2-1, thanks to goals from Laura Bellwood and Sarah Breen.

Castletown A were given a real test by Valkyrs C, before emerging 3-2 winners; Alison Hurd scored six as Harlequins A defeated Bacchas B 10-2; Kim Carney scored the decisive goal as Vikings A progressed against the battling challenge of Valkyrs B; Donna Harrison and Sharon Hope each scored four and Kristen Callow netted a hat-trick as Bacchas A thrashed Ramsey Raptors 13-0, and Castletown B marked their 5-0 victory over Saracens B by Julie Kelly scoring her first goal for the club.
