Bacchas A beat bogey side to move top; Valkyrs A's 100 per cent record ended

by isleofman.com 17th March 2007
It’s slight advantage Bacchas A after arch rivals Valkyrs A’s 100 per cent record was ended on Saturday.

The reigning champions were held to a 2-2 draw by Vikings A, while Bacchas A overcame bogey side Ramsey A 2-0, courtesy of strikes from Gareth Craig and Andy Whiting.

The win ensured Bacchas A moved top and maintained their 100 per cent record in the process.

Valkyrs A, for whom John Norrington and Julian Colley were on target, were up against a spirited Vikings A, who earned an impressive point through Connor Burn and Paul Kelly goals.

Bacchas B were 4-1 winners over Valkyrs B – Andy Whiting (scoring for B side as well as the A!), Glen Bloxham-Mundy, Danny Shuttleworth and Mark Parsons the marksmen.

In the other top-flight game, newly promoted Vikings B and Castletown A shared four goals.

Reigning champions Bacchas A won the match of the day in women’s Division One.

Kat Bridson, against her former club, and Sam Franklin were the scorers in a 2-0 win over rivals Valkyrs A.

The victory avenged a recent defeat against the only side to beat them this season and also kept them on course to retain the championship.
