St George’s won a thrilling Cu Plas FA Cup quarter-final against the odds to defeat arch rivals Laxey on Saturday.
The Geordies, already down to 10 men, trailed 2-1 with 10 minutes of normal time remaining.
However, they hit back to force extra-time and then went onto win 4-2 at the reigning champions.
St George’s had taken the lead through Martin Torr before Johnny Callow equalised for the Miners, pouncing on the rebound after his initial penalty had been saved.
Laxey then went in front through Nigel Beattie and looked a good bet to secure a semi-final place when Stuart Bell-Scott was dismissed for the visitors.
However, a superb Michael McHale shot levelled matters and then the 10-man Geordies won the tie in extra-time, courtesy of goals from Island internationals Sean Quaye and Johnny Myers.
St George’s will meet St Mary’s at the Bowl in next week’s semi-final.
