Douglas’ promotion hopes suffered a potentially crucial blow as they went down 14-3 to second placed Liverpool Collegiate in
EuroManx South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Three on Saturday.
Bryn Snellgrove notched Douglas’ only points with a first half penalty against a Collegiate side who deserved their victory on the day.
Collegiate, who boast the best defensive record on the day, now look set to be promoted with Southport.
Douglas, who were missing Lee Illott, still have an outside chance of promotion and the young Island side should be guaranteed at least third spot after Prenton suffered a defeat.
Elsewhere, there were excellent victories for newly crowned Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield champions Ramsey and Vagabonds B in the Manx Rugby Football Union Cup semi-finals.
Ramsey thrashed Douglas B 48-0 on their own turf, while Vagabonds B saw off Southern Nomads 31-17 to set up a final showdown.
There was also an impressive win for the ever improving Northern Spaniards as they saw off Western Vikings 29-3 away in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Bowl semi-final.
