Big Day for Bellis arrives

by isleofman.com 29th March 2007
Manx cyclist Jonny Bellis makes his World Track Championship debut for Great Britain today at the new Palma de Mallorca velodrome.

He rides in the Omnium event, which is a five part race. He will tackle a 200 metre Time Trial, Individual Pursuit, Kilometre, and Scratch and Points races.

Jonny has spent only five months with the Great Britain Olympic Development Academy, so his selection for the World Championship is a major boost.

He will hope to emulate fellow Manx rider Mark Cavendish, who won the World Madison title in Los Angeles in 2005.
