Old Boys move closer to championship

by isleofman.com 31st March 2007
Old Boys are just one victory away from an instant return to the top flight.

The CFS Division Two league leaders thrashed Ronaldsway 7-0 at Blackberry Lane on Saturday, courtesy of goals from Sean Gavin (two), Callum Stewart (two), Steve Clarke, Craig Stewart and Darren Hudgeon.

They remain unbeaten in the league this season and favourites to clinch the championship.

The sides chasing the second promotion spot were both defeated in tricky away matches.

Second placed Corinthians missed two penalties as they were beaten by Colby 2-1 at Glen Road as the southerners produced an impressive scoreline.

Josh Kelly and Steve Leece was the men on target with Steve Glover finding the net for Corinthians yet again.

Third placed Michael, a point behind Corinthians, also went down to high-flying Pulrose.

Dave Skillen and Barry English, plus an own goal, secured a 3-1 home win with Kieran Quinn netting the Michael reply.

Michael’s cause wasn’t helped by a missed penalty.
