Inflation rising

by isleofman.com 16th April 2007
Inflation rose during February to its highest rate since August 2005, standing at 3.8 per cent.Over the last twelve months, the price of housing has seen the largest jump – up 7.4 per cent, closely followed by fuel and light which rose by 7.3 per cent.Only clothing and motoring expenses fell over the last year, but the Island’s inflation rate is still slightly lower than that of the UK which stands at 4.6 per cent. There’s bad news if you live healthily and eat your five a day – The Island’s fruit prices have risen by a massive 16 per cent. But if you’re more of a pizza and kebab person, the situation isn’t much better as the price of takeaway food jumped ten per cent.
