Douglas rounded off a promising season in EuroManx South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Three with a resounding 48-8 win over Parkonians at Port-e-Chee.
Despite the final scoreline, the game didn’t go all Douglas’ way.
They trailed 8-0 early on after Andy Smith kicked Parkonians ahead with a penalty and wing Matty Dooley crossed for a try.
Gareth Hooson-Owen pulled Douglas back into the game just before half time with a well finished try, converted by stand-in stand-off Bryn Snellgrove.
As Parkonians began to tire in the second half, Douglas forged clear.
Hooson-Owen picked up his second to put the Manx outfit in front and they never really looked in any trouble after that.
Snellgrove added a penalty, then he converted his own try to make it 22-8 and the game was all but over.
A late surge from Douglas saw tries for Gwynne Davies, Seb Jeanneau, Phil Garrett and John Hill, plus another three conversions for the busy Snellgrove, who finished with a personal tally of 18 points.
All hands are now to the pumps at Port-e-Chee for next week’s Manx Cup final clash against old rivals Vagabonds.
