Title glory for Bacchas A

by isleofman.com 21st April 2007
Bacchas A are celebrating after reclaiming the men’s Division One hockey title.

They defeated their bogey side, Ramsey A, in style with a 5-0 success to set the championship party in full swing.

And even if they hadn’t won, they could still have been crowned champions as nearest rivals Valkyrs A slipped to a 4-3 defeat to Vikings A, to end their own hopes of retaining the title.

A Jamie Cox hat-trick, plus goals from Richard Le Page and Jamie Brown, sealed a memorable victory for Bacchas, who led 3-0 at the break to make no mistake.

Meanwhile, a double from Paul Kelly, along with strikes from Conor Byrne and Dave Millward, sealed a fine win for Vikings A.

Regular scorers Greg Miller, Gareth Morris and Gerry Quinn found the net for Valkyrs.

Elsewhere, Steve Crowe was among the scorers as Vikings B edged out Castletown 3-2, while Matt Caine grabbed a goal as Bacchas B ran out 3-0 winners over Valkyrs B.

In Walbrook Trustees women’s Division One, Steph Lace was the hero as Valkyrs A defeated leaders Bacchas A 2-1 to officially deny them the chance to clinch the championship – for the moment at least!
