Vagabonds regained the Dorchester Atlantic Marine Manx Cup with a tense 26-11 victory over holders and old rivals Douglas.
Vagas took an early 3-0 lead via a Jonny Beckley penalty after just four minutes.
Douglas soon fought back and a Nick Horsthuis try gave them a 5-3 lead after quarter of an hour.
A Rob Martin try on 20 minutes regained the lead for Vagas at 8-5, before
Beckley traded penalties with Douglas’ Bryn Snellgrove to make the half-time score 11-8 to Vagas.
Early in the second half, Snellgrove kicked another penalty to level the scores but, from then on, Vagas took control.
Beckley’s third penalty of the afternoon put them ahead 14-11 and he rounded off his day at the office with a 65 metre interception try to make the game safe at 19-11 with just a few minutes remaining.
With the last play of the game, Leigh Kennaugh darted home to give the scoreboard a somewhat flattering look.
