Title glory for Bacchas

by isleofman.com 29th April 2007
Bacchas A are celebrating after retaining the women’s Division One hockey title.

A goal from Carly Lace sparked the title celebrations and earned the club a 1-0 victory over Castletown A to confirm their continued dominance of women’s hockey.

In the division’s other games, Valkyrs A produced a superb comeback to defeat rivals Vikings A 3-2.

Mary Rowe and Kim Carney were on target for battling Vikings to give them a 2-0 lead, but Lynn Brew, Kelly Shimmin and Emma Faulkner found the net for Valkyrs to seal a fine victory.

Denise Foxton and Ali Hurd were the scorers as Harlequins A edged out Phoenix A 2-1.

Julie Evans was the Phoenix scorer.

Amy Kneale (two), Amy Scullen, Ali Breen and Anna Pugh ensured Ramsey A had a memorable finish to the season with a 5-0 win against Castletown B.

In men’s Division One, Valkyrs A finished the league season on a high against the side which disposed them as champions.

They defeated Bacchas A 4-0, already crowned champions, courtesy of goals from Greg Miller, Gareth Morris and two from Vic Fearns.

In the top flight’s other games, two improved sides Ramsey A and Vikings A shared four goals apiece, while Bacchas B saw off Vikings B 3-1.
