Manx Radio Sport understands High Jumper Martin Aram withdrew from the Island Games in Rhodes later this summer in a dispute over coaching.
Originally Merrik Bousefield was to travel to the Greek island as field coach for the Isle of Man Athletics team, but he sadly passed away prior to Christmas.
The recently announced squad does not include a field coach amongst the officials - a decision Manx Radio Sport has been told was based on the experience of the field event athletes, as opposed to the young track competitiors, and on cost grounds.
Martin Aram, who won gold at the previous three Games, is disappointed his own coach Michael Callow was not asked to go, and that's the reason why he has decided not to compete for the Manx team.
