Twenty nine of the 33 entered yachts made it to the start line of Sunday's Round the Island race.
A gusty start saw the lead yachts reach the Point of Ayre in 45 minutes. There was then a tough leg down the west coast of the island, with force 5 and 6 winds making the sea fairly heavy and choppy.
Once round the Chicken Rock in the south, it was spinnaker up and a fast run to Douglas. The last leg to Ramsey Bay was the usual mix of wind and calm periods.
First to finish the challenging race was Byjasus (Strangford Loch YC) closely followed by Dinamite-Tee (Liverpool YC) in 9 hours 40 minutes. Full marks to tail-ender John Dowling of Isle of Man Yacht Club for bringing his small yacht home at 0620 on Monday morning.
