Lawyers say Clerks expenses figure " inaccurate"

by isleofman.com 11th May 2007
Lawyers acting for the sacked Braddan Clerk, Charles "Buster" Lewin have described as " inaccurate and misleading" details given in a Keys question about his expenses.

In a list of the salaries and expenses of clerks in all the local authorities, Mr Lewins expenses are put at over thirty-three thousand pounds.
That on top of a salary of over fifty thousand pounds.

His advocates say that payments made to him "were pursuant to his contract of employment as agreed by the Commissioners and were made in consideration of Mr Lewin providing particular services as required by Braddan Commissioners. The payments cannot fairly be categorised as expenses or " out of pocket".
