There were some impressive local performances as TT stars warmed up for the centenary festival in mixed fashion in the North-West 200 on Saturday.

The pick of those saw Connor Cummins (pictured centre) claim fifth and eighth place finishes in the Superstock and first Superbike race, while Castletown’s Chris Palmer (pictured right) and Dave Madsen-Mygdal finished fourth and fifth respectively in the 400/125cc event.

The day belonged to Bruce Anstey (pictured left), who crashed out of the first Superbike race but went on to claim a memorable hat-trick of wins.

The flying Kiwi came off his Suzuki but was not hurt and returned to the course to win the Superstock and both Supersport races.

Steve Plater and John McGuinness won the shortened Superbike events.

Plater's success came in the main Superbike which was shortened to three laps as the original running was abandoned when Australian Cameron Donald came off his machine.

It’s believed Donald sustained a broken collarbone in an accident on the coast road.

McGuinness was vying for a Superbike double but, on the final lap of the main event, he missed a chicane after being forced out by Guy Martin.

Christian Elkin, on his North-West debut, won the 250cc event while Oliver Linsdell took the 400/125 race.

Elsewhere locally, Nigel Beattie was 15th, John Barton 38th, Stephen Oates 39th, Chris McGahan 54th and Dave Madsen-Mygdal 61st in the Superbike race.

In the Supersport race, Beattie claimed 11th place, Palmer 14th and McGahan 42nd, while in the Superstock, Paul Hunt was 12th, Beattie 15th, Palmer 16th, Oates 32nd, McGahan 39th and Madsen-Mygdal 42nd.
