There will be a player from Rowany in Saturday's Isle of Man Golf Championship Final.
Clubmates Jonathan Corke and Mike Rae won their quarter-final ties at the Douglas Course last night, and they now meet in this evening's semi-finals.
Talking to Manx Radio's Golf Correspondent Roy Moore, Mike Rae says both players are delighted for the Rowany Club:-
In the lower half of the draw, Brian Duggan proved too strong for Andrew Challenor.....and the only player left in the matchplay stages to have previously lifted the trophy, Davy Jones, is also through, but he had to hole a sizeable putt on the 18th to finally see off the challenge of Steve Jeffers. The Isle of Man's "Voice of Golf", Roy Moore, described the moment live on Manx Radio's Back Page programme:-
The results in full:-
Jonathan Corke beat Peter Glover 1up
Mike Rae beat Gary Hunter 2 & 1
Davy Jones beat Steve Jeffers 1 up
Brian Duggan beat Andrew Challenor 4 & 3
This evening's semi-finals are:-
Jonathan Corke (Rowany) v Mike Rae (Rowany)
Davy Jones (Ramsey) v Brian Duggan (King Edward Bay)
