Manx people have been contacted by someone claiming to be the representative of a man killed in the 'Twin Towers' attack in New York, on September 11, 2001.
The FSC says it has received correspondence from an 'Albert T. Macarthur' who claims to be a solicitor acting for a Brian Lloyd Smith, who died in the attack.
The solicitor claims to be seeking the 'honest co-operation' of the recipient to be presented as the next of kin of Mr Smith, in order to claim a sum of ?13,000,000 before it is 'declared unserviceable'.
Within the correspondence 'Albert T. Macarthur' claims to have an address of 'Champion House, Douglas, Isle of Man IM99 1DD, British Isles, United Kingdom.
Enquiries carried out by the FSC have shown the claim is completely false.
The Commission says 'Mr Macarthur' has no connection with the address or any genuine Isle of Man companies.
