Chairman announces disciplinary decision

by isleofman.com 6th July 2007
The Menorcan cyclist who threw his bike at Isle of Man Cycing Team Manager Gary Hinds has been disciplined by the Island Games Association.

Diego Escudero Escriba carried out the attack after cheating in the cross country mountain bike race by taking a shortcut, only to find Gary watching.

Yesterday the Menorcan team manager apologised, but today the IGA announced Escriba will be stripped of his silver medal, charged with bringing the games into disrepute and warned over his conduct.

Outgoing Chairman of the Island Games Association, Brian Partington (pictured), announced the measures in Rhodes today (audio file attached):

The medals ceremony, postponed after the incident, will take place tonight.
