With the Isle of Man returning from the Island Games in Rhodes, the Island’s gymnastics’ contingent is preparing for an invasion of its own next week.
With gymnastics omitted from the programme for the main Island Games, the member countries felt it was important to renew rivalries and friendships in 2007.
The event had initially intended to be in the Faroes, but when the gym facility was not completed in time, the Island, with the experience of holding the event in 2001, stepped in and took on responsibility for the competitions.
At short notice, the event was organised by the Isle of Man Gymnastics Association, with Lloyds TSB, the sponsors of the Island squads, stepping in with ?3,000 of additional sponsorship for the competition week.
The Manx Gymnastics Centre of Excellence on Glencrutchery Road will host three days of competition on Monday (July 16), Wednesday and Friday.
Competitors from Aland, Ynys Mon, Gibraltar, Jersey, Faeroes and the Island will be represented in Junior and Senior competitions.
