Pile-up ends Cav's stage 2 chances

by isleofman.com 10th July 2007
There was more disappointment for Manx Tour de France cyclist Mark Cavendish yesterday (Monday), after he crashed out of contention again.

On Sunday he collided with a spectator; this time a rider moving across the bunch with only 2 kilometres to go caused a mass pile-up as the race moved from Dunkirk to Ghent in Belgium.

The 22 year was being led to the front by three T-Mobile team-mates, and he fell to the right suffering grazes to his elbows and knees.

Mark is expected to continue when the race goes into France today with a finish in Compiegne, 50 miles north of Paris.
