Skillicorn wins Ellan Vannin Fell Race

Simon Skillicorn finished over five minutes ahead of his nearest rival in Sunday's Ellan Vannin Fell Race.

Run in excellent conditions, 31 started the event, which was the eighth round of the Manx Fell League.

Tom Cringle was second, with Ian Gale running strongly to clinch third and the first veteran athlete over 40.

In the veteran over 50 class, Dave Young continues to dominate with a resounding win.

There was intense competition in the ladies race with visiting athlete Karen Robertson from Northumberland Fell Runners gaining the upper hand over talented local Cal Partington for the honours. Bridget Kaneen was pleased with her run in third.
