New lap record eludes Martin

by isleofman.com 12th July 2007
Guy Martin just missed out on the absolute lap record in last night's Southern 100 Senior Race.

He missed out by half a mile an hour, on his way to victory over Ian Lougher and local Conor Cummins.

Nick Crowe and Daniel Sayle were also unlucky not to make history- they hit 99.778mph in pursuit of the first 100mph lap by a sidecar outfit. They took the Sidecar class win over Nigel Connole and Jamie Winn.

The Junior 400/125cc race was won by Paul Dobbs from Alan Oversby and Roy Richardson. Castletown's Chris Palmer was the best on a 125cc.

Oversby improved on his second place in the Classic race, taking the honours on a Craven Manx Norton- ten seconds clear of Chris McGahan in second.
