Manx-based eWallet company NETeller says American customers can now start claiming their money back, after it froze their accounts earlier this year.

The company agreed with the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, to start returning money as soon as possible.

Earlier this month, NETeller pleaded guilty to charges in the US over its payment system’s links to online gambling sites.

But the company now says people can access their accounts until January 26 next year to request the money which has been stuck in their accounts.

Under the plan, the balances will be paid electronically to bank accounts, or by cheque.

President and CEO Ron Martin says he is pleased to start the process and is thanking customers in the States for their patience.

The move is the first step in NETeller’s recovery process after it started trading on London’s Alternative Investments Market last week.
