Final MGP practice goes ahead

by isleofman.com 26th August 2007
Last night's (Saturday) final practice session for the Manx Grand Prix was again beset with problems.

An accident at the 32nd milestone before the roads closed left oil on the road.

A rapid sweeping operation led to a short delay - and the riders setting-off were warned the road was wet.

The Classics were led by John Goodall on his G50 who completed just one lap - also at the front was Alan Oversby on his Norton who will start first in the race.

Fastest was Ryan Farquar clocking a lap of 106.199 in the Senior and 100.094 on his smaller steed in the Junior.

The final main practice saw the Seniors, Juniors and Lightweights headed off by Carolyn Sells and Micahel Weldon on their 600cc bikes.

A large field followed as rain threatened and later the session was curtailed as thick mist suddenly descended.

Only a few riders were running ahead of it - the rest ran home under yellow flags.

Despite time running out, nearly everyone qualified - a few hard luck stories will have to take their pleadings to Clerk of the Course, Neil Hanson.
