The Department of Trade and Industry's public consultation on its Policy for Economic Support has been out for a couple of weeks.
It's part of the DTI's efforts to progress the Enterprise Bill 2007 and asks for people's opinions on the proposals, including how much information should be provided publicly on funding for private businesses.
Trades Council President Bernard Moffatt feels the department should disclose which firms have received financial support in the past, so members of the public can give their opinions based on a larger amount of information.
However, DTI Minister David Cretney doesn't think that would be possible:
