It’s a big day for Manx hockey on Sunday.
The Isle of Man has reached both the men’s and women’s finals of the Barclays Wealth Islands Hockey Tournament.
The competition began on Friday evening with sides from the Island, Bermuda, Guernsey and Jersey meeting on a round robin basis.
The men’s team will play the winners of Sunday morning’s Jersey/Guernsey match in the final at 4.45pm.
Before that at 3pm, the Isle of Man women’s team will contest the final, also at the National Sports Centre.
The Island men’s team sealed their spot with a 1-1 draw with Jersey on Saturday – Richard Le Page the scorer – following an earlier 6-2 victory over Guernsey.
Le Page was again on target and was joined on the scoresheet by Gareth Morris, Karl Moore, Glen Bloxham-Mundy, Chris Thomas and Robin Perry.
Meanwhile, the women’s team ran riot against Guernsey with a 9-1 victory.
Donna Harrison struck a hat-trick.
Kelly Shimmin and Kim Carney grabbed two apiece, while Zoe Carney and Niamh Goddard scored the others.
Georgia Smith fired the Guernsey consolation.
Goals from Harrison and Goddard had earlier secured a 2-0 success over Jersey, the women’s team most likely opponents in the final.
