Double delight for Manx

by isleofman.com 9th September 2007
It was a day of double delight for Manx Hockey yesterday.

Both the Men's and Women's sides won the Barclays Wealth Four Islands tournaments after three days of competition against Bermuda, Guernsey and Jersey.

First of all, the Ladies beat Jersey 2-0 in the final thanks to goals from competition top-scorer Donna Harrison and Kim Carney.

Two years ago, the Isle of Man finished bottom - Captain Niamh ("Neev") Goddard says the squad has been determind to put that right ever since:-

The Men won a thriller against Jersey.

Greg Miller and Karl Moore put the manx two-up at the interval. However, Jersey hit back with strikes from Stuart Ramshill and Peter Miller. The winning goal came from a penalty-flick netted by Greg Miller.

Captain Andy Bridson thanked his squad for the big effort put into training before the tournament:-
