Plenty of debate taking place within Island sports at the moment following Sports Council Chairman Geoff Karran's comments on Manx Radio last week.
He admitted disappointment at the lack of medal success achieved by the Isle of Man during July's Natwest Island Games in Rhodes.
Eleven golds was the lowest number won by a Manx team since the event started in 1985.
Geoff said the Island Games are second only to the Commenwealth Games in importance, so selection should reflect that status. And, he feels only genuine medal contenders or future potential winners across the sports should be selected.
Many believe it's a good time for such a debate. The Manx Island Games team is heavily subsidised through Government funding, so naturally, they will want to see some kind of return on that investment.
Similarly, Government funds the Sports Council to develop sport on the Island - the proposed building of a Sports Institute being the latest example.
