Bostock and Whelan success

by isleofman.com 15th September 2007
There was success for two young Island sporting talents on the national stage on Saturday.

Island cyclist Matthew Bostock, of Team Scottish Provident, won the eighth round of the British cycling national youth circuit race series in Kent.

That was enough to give him the under 10s title.

Meanwhile, Lauren Whelan set what is believed to be a new Manx record for her age group as she won the junior girls English Schools three kilometre race walking title in Exeter.

Her time was 16 minutes exactly, while another local, Kirsty Taylor, performed impressively, to finish sixth in 18 minutes 22 seconds.

Klara Kaneen was a fine fourth in the five kilometre senior girls race in a time of 32 minutes, six seconds.
