Island seal Youth Cup success

by isleofman.com 29th September 2007
A late penalty from Jack McVeigh sealed a memorable victory for the Isle of Man in the first round of the FA County Youth Cup.

He coolly slotted the ball home, at the second time of asking, to secure a 2-1 victory against Lancashire at the Bowl and send the Island through to the second round.

Connor Doyle had fired the Island ahead before Neil Harris equalised.

Lancashire edged the contest but when Doyle was brought down five minutes from time, McVeigh struck to clinch the tie.

Old Boys’ Drew Ward was named man of the match.
