by isleofman.com 5th October 2007
David Hudson from Ramsey Grammar School has won gold for the Isle of Man at the Special Olympics in China.

He won the 50m freestyle swim having turned in second to last place after the first length.

Earlier, another Ramsey Grammar School pupil, Ollie Riddell won a bronze medal in the Bocce.

Back in the pool, Emily Davies came fifth in the 50m freestyle final knocking 13 seconds off her personal best, and Justine Perry also beat her PB.

The 5-a-side Football team beat the United States 2-1 but lost to Turkmenistan 2-3 later in the day.

Gymnast Paul Clucas has performed well beating his previous best on the floor exercises.

In the Marathon, Lawrence Dyer was one of the vast majority of the field to retire in the 30 degree heat - only two athletes completed the full course.

Looking to tomorrow - hopes are high of further medal success, this time in cycling. Guy Adamson was fastest in qualifying for the 5K Time Trial.
