DJ Kershaw receives suspended jail term

BBC DJ and television presenter Andy Kershaw has been given a suspended jail term after admitting to harassing his former partner.

He was also banned from driving for 16 months when he appeared at Douglas courthouse today (Tuesday).

The BBC Radio 3 presenter, who lives in Peel, was arrested on August the 29th for breaching a restraining order banning him from approaching his former partner, Juliette Banner.

The 48-year-old admitted he had been left 'heartbroken' after Ms Banner, his partner of 17 years and mother of his two children, had started another relationship.

Kershaw was given a three month jail sentence, suspended for 18 months, for the breach of the order, and a 16 month driving ban after admitting a separate charge of drink driving in Shore Road in Peel on September the 13th.

He was also fined ?750 with ?155.90 costs

As he left the court, Kershaw thanked High Bailiff Michael Moyle for a non-custodial sentence.
